At least two bodies and nine injured persons have been retrieved so far, after a five-storey under construction building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on Sunday.

While the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel pulled out one body and rescued one person on Sunday, another body and two more persons were retrieved from the site in early hours of Monday.

"One more body recovered and two persons rescued from the site where a building collapsed in Ghaziabad's Missal Gadi, yesterday. Rescue operations underway," the news agency ANI reported.

Several others are feared to be trapped under the debris and the rescue operation is currently underway at the Missal Gadi building, which was being constructed illegally.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered an inquiry into the incident. He also asked the district authorities to register an FIR and take action against the guilty.

A magisterial probe has also been initiated into the collapse of the illegal structure in the Akash Nagar area

The incident comes within a week of a six-storey under-construction building collapsed on another five-storey building in Greater Noida. The twin-building collapse in Shahberi village had claimed nine lives, including that of a toddler and two women.
