A fire broke out at a plastic factory in Greater Noida's Udyog Vihar around 6 am on Sunday morning, according to officials as reported by news agency ANI. It was doused by as many as 12 fire tenders and help from locals after a few hours.
(Further details awaited)
The labourers who were sleeping inside the factory were rescued and no loss of live had been reported. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, according to officials.
Following the incident, locals allege that several other illegal units are running in the area but the police and the administration are turning a blind eye and waiting for another tragedy to occur. Factory owners ususally ignore safety standards and store fuel and combustible materials in a haphazard manner.
