Aam Admi Party has claimed that Union government is following the Delhi-model of Education. Deputy CM Manish Sisodiya has tweeted, 'Happy to hear that central govt is following 'Kejriwal Education Model'. The Happiness Curriculum was introduced in government schools across Delhi in 2018. In addition, Delhi has established a model of education in the country and the world. Aam Aadmi Party has claimed that inspired by this same model of education, Union Government is implementing the same across educational institutions in the country. AAP said that Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank implemented the Happiness Curriculum at IIM-Jammu.
Reasons for implementing the Happiness Curriculum
Arvind Kejriwal government developed the Happiness Curriculum to help children develop a better, healthier lifestyle, by encouraging them to practice mindfulness. The aim of Happiness Curriculum is to develop self-awareness, mindfulness, critical thinking and scientific skills in children. It also teaches students to communicate effectively and teaches them life skills to deal with stressful and unfavorable situations. Close to three-four lakh students helped create an emotionally strong environment in their homes by practicing mindfulness. The Happiness Curriculum encourages everyone to develop long-term approaches to better mental health.
Sixteen lakh students participate in the Happiness Class on a daily basis
The party claimed that Delhi government is taking several important steps to create a conducive learning and teaching environment in schools. The Daily Happiness class for students of Nursery to Standard VIII has led to children recognizing their feelings of happiness in a scientific way. Everyday, around 1.6 million children attend Mindfulness Meditation at the beginning of their class, which is unique in itself. In view of the growing international interest in the Happiness Curriculum, an international cell is proposed to be set up for knowledge sharing.
Educators to have an instrumental role
The role of teachers and their recommendations was instrumental while developing the Happiness Curriculum. With time, there’s now a whole cadre of teachers who believe in the vision and results of Happiness Curriculum.
