The Kejriwal Government has adopted a big decision wherein the COVID positive construction workers will be provided with financial assistance up to Rs 10,000 for treatment purposes. This will aid the construction workers to receive treatment for themselves as well as for their families. It is a directive by CM Arvind Kejriwal Government that no worker would have to leave Delhi due to the financial crisis during the pandemic.

Aid to be provided on furnishing the RT-PCR Report

Yet another praiseworthy step has been taken up by the Delhi Government to assist construction workers in the times of the Coronavirus. Medical aid would be disbursed to the registered construction workers and their families who are COVID positive. A sum of Rs 5,000-10,000 will be allocated. The assistance amount would be transferred directly to the accounts based on the RT-PCR reports. As per information, the RT-PCR reports would be inspected by the ICMR portal and only then the amount will be transferred to the said accounts of the workers.

The Kejriwal Government has provided financial aid of Rs 5,000 to the registered construction workers of the capital. As of now, 2 lakh workers have been provided with financial assistance of Rs 100 crore. Last year, there were about 55,000 registered construction workers in Delhi and they were provided with an aid of Rs 5000 each, during the lockdown.

The Delhi Government has initiated more than 150 food distribution centres at schools and construction sites across Delhi to provide for the needs of the migrant, daily wage and construction site workers. So far, around 83,000 food packets have been distributed via these centres.
