Services on the Harbour line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vadala Road station on Mumbai Suburban Railway (Mumbai Local) were interrupted on Sunday morning due to overhead equipment failure. According to Central Railway, the overhead equipment failure happened near the Sewri railway station on Harbour line. People travelling to and from CSMT to Andheri-Goregaon or Panvel are expected to face problems due to the issue as this line caters to these areas.
A Public Relations Officer of Central Railway said, "Due to overhead equipment failure near Sewri railway station on Harbour line, services between CSMT-Vadala Road won't be available till further advice. Staff working to resume it. Services available Vadala Road-Panvel and Vadala Road-Goregaon."
The Harbour line is a branch line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway operated by Central Railway. It was named so because it caters to the eastern neighbourhoods along the city's natural harbour. At Vadala Road, the Harbour line splits into two corridors, one going to Panvel and the other to Andheri. The exact split occurs 800 metres north of Vadala Road station, at a location known as Ravli.
