New Delhi:

Moderate rains lashed parts of the national capital on Wednesday morning providing much-needed respite from the scorching dry heat. The thundershowers  commenced over parts of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. The weatherman has predicted dusty winds to continue over parts of Delhi and NCR till May 17. The temperature is expected to go up to 41 degree Celsius during the day with 73 per cent humidity.

“These pre-monsoon weather activities have been attributed to the successive Western Disturbances affecting the hills of North India and their induced cyclonic circulations present over parts of Rajasthan. Moreover, presently a trough is also extending across Delhi,” according to the Skymet weather.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season’s average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.8 degrees celsius, five notches below normal.

"The region is under the influence of a western disturbance in the north. For the next two days too — May 16 and 17 — the weather might be similar as another western disturbance is expected in north India. More thundershowers are expected in the city. For a week or so, it will be comparatively nice,” TOI quoted BP Yadav, head of IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre.
