Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said that the government has decided to rename Mukarba Chowk and flyover as Captain Vikram Batra Chowk in retrospect to the martyr who sacrificed his life in Kargil War. He further added that the name of Pragati Maidan Metro Station have also been renamed as Supreme Court Metro Station.

"Mukarba Chowk will be named as Shahid Vikram Batra Chowk. Metro station near Supreme Court that was called Pragati Maidan, will now be called Supreme Court Metro Station. Badarpur-Mehrauli Road will be named as Acharya Shri Mahapragya Marg," Manish Sisodia said.

The construction of Delhi Metro’s Phase-IV also began with a ground-breaking ceremony at Haider Badli Mor on December 30. The Union Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in March had approved three out of the six corridors of Delhi Metro’s proposed Phase-IV which will further improve connectivity in the national capital.

According to the government, the Mukundpur-Maujpur, R K Ashram-Janakpuri West and Aero City-Tughlakabad corridors were approved by the Cabinet.
