Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked Delhi Chief Secretary MM Kutty to explain his absence from the birth anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat organised by the Delhi government's Art, Culture and Language Department.

The celebrations were attended by the President and the Prime Minister.

A Chief Minister’s aide said that Kejriwal is unhappy over the absence of Kutty. He further claimed that many bureaucrats other than Kutty also skipped the event.

"The chief minister is miffed over the casualty with which the officials treated a national-level event like this," the aide said.

Kutty did not respond to calls and messages.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Shastri on the occasion.
