The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Thursday passed a resolution seeking Rs 1 crore compensation for each of the families of the persons who have recently died due to accidents on the Signature Bridge, the civic body said. NDMC alleged that accidents happened as the bridge was "inaugurated without finishing the entire work”.
"The Standing Committee resolves that the Delhi government should give a compensation of Rs 1 crore each of the families of the persons who have died in accidents on the Signature Bridge and Rs 25 lakh each for those who have been injured," the resolution read.

Earlier, two men were killed after they fell off the newly-constructed Signature Bridge.
Initially, it was suspected that the victims were performing stunts. However, police in their investigation had ruled out that angle.
A day after two motorcycle-borne medical students were killed on the iconic bridge, another person died when his bike skidded on the bridge.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had written "Deeply concerned about accidents taking place on Signature Bridge. I appeal to everyone, especially the youth, to be extra vigilant while taking selfies on the bridge and to not drive faster than the speed limit. Your life is very precious."
The committee also resolved that a "probe committee" be set up to investigate those who allowed the bridge to be inaugurated, and its report be sent in one month to the Lt Governor of Delhi.
"The Signature bridge has been completed only because there is an honest government in Delhi," Kejriwal had said after inaugurating the bridge.
The Signature Bridge was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on November 4. Built over river Yamuna, Signature Bridge is said to reduce the travel time between north and northeast Delhi, also sharing the traffic burden of the Wazirabad bridge. It offers a panoramic view of the city and has designated selfie spots. This is the first such accident on the Signature Bridge since its inauguration.
