Dialling 100 in case of an emergency could soon become a thing of the past. The Delhi Police was asked by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to launch a mobile application which can help a person in distress to connect with it in a single touch.
The App was suggested by the LG in his fortnightly theme-based meeting with Delhi police. Today's meeting focused on law and order issues of the national capital.
A press statement issued on behalf of the LG stated that the meeting was attended by top officials of police and the Delhi government.
"The LG directed that Delhi Police should bring out one App for entire Delhi Police to offer all services at One platform for people in distress," it said.
In the meeting, the LG also stressed on connecting with the people regularly, ensuring community-based schemes and involvement of youths productively, the statement said.
"He (LG) emphasised upon increasing and facilitating access to police for public. He directed to put in Place systemic measures with built-in mechanisms for continuous interaction with public throughout the city," it added.
