New Delhi:

Passengers travelling on Delhi Metro's Yellow Line had to face major difficulties on Saturday after a major power failure caused delays on this line between Udyog Bhawan and Model Town station. The mishap took place between 5.00 pm - 5.30 pm in this afternoon, leaving hundred of passengers stranded at the busy Rajeev Chowk metro station. In the wake of this difficulty, entry was also restricted at the Patel Chowk metro station. However, operations on all other lines of Delhi Metro were reportedly normal.

Taking to twitter, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) informed, "Delay in services between Udyog Bhawan and Model Town", adding that "There was a power failure on that section. Our engineers are working on the issue".

Around 7 pm in the evening, the DMRC again tweeted, saying the issue has been rectified, but requested the commuters to allow extra time for their travel in this section till the bunching of trains normalises.

"Yellow Line Update: The issue has been rectified. Normal service has resumed. Please allow extra time in your commute in this section till the bunching of trains normalises. We thank you for your patience," the tweet read.

Following the disruption, authorities restored services on part of the section and started operation in two separate loops. The first loop was between Central Secretariat and HUDA City Centre while the second one was between Kashmiri Gate and Samaypur Badli.

Meanwhile, many passengers took to twitter and complained about the delay as they had to face a harrowing time for the last few hours. Some of them also tweeted pictures and videos of long queues at metro stations.

Yellow Line, which consists of 37 metro stations, connects Samaypur Badli in Delhi to HUDA City Centre in the neighbouring city of Gurgaon.
