At a time when heat wave conditions are intensifying in several countries across the world, rain gods showed mercy on Delhi and the neighbouring parts as temperatures dropped to give a sense of relaxation from the scorching heat wave conditions.

The National Capital region once again woke up to an overcast, drizzling sky on Friday after a couple of days of incessant shower in and around Delhi.

The India Meteorological Department had predicted downpour for most parts of the day and the sky Gods didn’t disappoint their predictions. The sky rumbled and the droplets descended making the weather extremely pleasant. The temperature dropped and suddenly it felt like ‘the winter has come’.

"The sky will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day. There is possibility of scattered showers in most parts of the National Capital Territory," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

However, complexity is inevitable when the rain gods show their love on a country where drainage system and population is a major concern. Severe waterlogging and crippling traffic jams were reported from many areas as daily commuters struggled to get their daily routine on track.

The Delhi Traffic Police were kept busy as they continuously posted updates about the traffic situations after many displayed their anger on the micro-blogging platform over waterlogged roads.

Even though the daily life has been moderately affected in the national capital region, the rainfall has given a pinch of relief from the humidity it has been reeling under.
