Andhra Pradesh: 7 dead 30 injured as bus falls off flyover in Krishna district

At least 13 people were injured and six killed after a bus fell off a flyover near Penuganchiprolu village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.The injured passengers have been taken to Nandigama and Vijayawada hospitals.

This incident happened on Tuesday morning when the private bus was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Hyderabad. 

Police said the toll might go up as the front portion of the bus was badly mangled and many were trapped inside.

The private Volvo bus coming from Hyderabad lost control, hit a road divider and fell into the canal between two bridges.

The driver of the bus was said to be a in a drowsy condition and thus lost control.

Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa has directed the Krishna district police to carry out rescue operations on a war-footing.

The injured passengers were rushed to hospitals in Vijayawada for treatment. Further details are awaited.
