A series of loud explosions rocked Jaisalmer's Pokhran in Rajasthan on Tuesday evening, triggering panic among residents. On social media, many residents of Jaisalmer claimed that at least five consecutive explosions could be heard.
Reports suggest the explosions occurred in eight minutes. So far, no official confirmation has been made on these explosions.
The social media is also flooded with rumours that the explosions occurred due to nuclear tests. Sources, however, said the Army is destroying old ammunition. There has been no official confirmation from the Army on this matter.
In August, the barrel of a T-90 Russian battle tank exploded in Jaisalmer's Pokhran field firing range during a tank firing practice session.
The barrel of the T-90 Russian tank exploded with a huge bang. As no army personnel was near the tank at the time of the incident, a huge tragedy was averted.
The Pokhran test site is located 45 km north-west of Pokhran town and 4 km north of Khetolai village in Jaisalmer.
