Bollywood has from time and again left a mark on the traveling destinations among the travel folks. The picturesque destinations which are chosen to be shot in a movie often find a place in many bucket lists. Similar is the case of the ‘Rancho Wall’. The Druk Padma Karpo school in Leh was shot to fame after it was featured in the Aamir Khan starrer ‘3 Idiots’. The authorities have now decided to raze the wall and ban tourists entry as it was bringing much chaos and causing a distraction for the students.

The wall came into limelight, when one of the movie characters Chatur tries to urinate on it, but instead gets electrocuted by an ingenious invention of school children. The school later painted the wall and named it ‘Rancho wall’ which became popular among tourists.
The school principal Stanzin Kunzang feels that the movie had bagged a lot of publicity to the school and made it so famous that it became a tourists spot. “However, we realised that the purpose of having a school in the area was getting defeated. Not only students were getting distracted by the tourists flocking the school but also every day the campus was being reduced to a litter ground," added the principal.

"Inspired by the vision of His Holiness the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa, spiritual leader of Ladakh, the school aims to provide a modern education for Ladakhi children - an education grounded in their own culture and which could prepare them to lead happy and productive lives," Kunzang said
The foundation stone of Druk Padma Karpo Education Society was laid in 1998 but the school was partially destroyed in the flash floods and landslides that hit the town in 2010. However, it was renovated thereafter.
