An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck Jammu and Kashmir at 08:13 pm on Monday. No casualties were reported. An official of the Disaster Management Department said the epicentre of the quake was at the depth of 10 km at a latitude of 34.3 degrees north and longitude of 78.3 degrees east.
There were no reports of any loss of life or damage to property so far, the official said.
On October 19, an earthquake of a magnitude of 5.2 struck Jammu and Kashmir. Sonam Lotus, Director of the MET Department, had said: “The coordinates of the quake were latitude 38.4 degrees north and longitude 73.8 degrees east. The epicentre was in Tajikistan-Xinjiang region.â€
