New Delhi:

Her two-decade-long stay in Kashmir inspired B Srieesha Srinivas to take her passion for art forward. The budding artist says she wanted to show the “happy” and “beautiful” side of the Valley in her paintings.

Titled ‘Glimpses of the Vale’, the collection of paintings focuses on the beautiful landscapes of Kashmir depicting “positivity”.

Srieesha, a self-taught artist, says her paintings do not have any “hidden meaning” and solely focus on the natural beauty of the state.

“I paint what I see. There is no hidden meaning in my paintings. I paint the landscapes as I find them beautiful.

“I don’t want to portray anything negative about the Valley. I just want to showcase the beauty. I want people to feel happy and positive. I want people to come to Kashmir and see the beauty it has,” Srieesha told PTI.

Be it her artwork titled “Boulevard” or a bright depiction of “Charming Chinar”, the paintings are dominated by bright shades and Srieesha says she sticks to the natural colours as she does not like to play with the real essence of the landscape.

“I choose my colours instantly. I don’t sit and analyse which colour should go. I don’t want to lose the tempo and beauty by thinking too much.”

Srieesha says after successfully exhibiting her landscape paintings she may come up with a collection of portraits of the people of Kashmir.

“I used to do a lot of portraits. After going to Kashmir, I decided to do landscapes. In future, I would try to portray the people of Kashmir as well.”
