The state government has removed the IAS officer from Udhampur after he posted an "awkward" pictures went viral on social media. Three pictures of the bureaucrat in an "awkward position" on bed went viral on WhatsApp and Facebook has raged anger among the public.

Pending enquiry into his conduct, Niraj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur is hereby attached in the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu," an order issued by the General Administrative Department (GAD) said.

After the picture went viral, the state government has sacked the IAS officer from his post.

"We took immediate action after looking at the pictures. We do not know whether they are true or forged. A probe has been ordered to know the truth", a senior government official told PTI.

Anand Sharma, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Udhampur will look after the work of Kumar till further orders, Amrik Singh, Under Secretary to the government, said in an order.
