Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir’s Shopian district early on Tuesday morning, the Jammu and Kashmir police said.

“Two terrorists killed in the operation. The operation is over. No collateral damage has been reported,” the J&K police said on Twitter.
The militants have been identified as Mohd Idrees Sultan and Amir Hussain Rather, affiliated with terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter, according to news agency ANI.

A police spokesperson had earlier informed about the exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants in Zainpora area of Safnagri. The militants are yet to be identified.
