Two persons, one of whom was wanted in a case registered against him nine years ago, were arrested on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, police said.

Khurshid Ahmad, a resident of Deri Leyote village, was absconding for the last nine years. He was arrested on a specific information from the Manjakote area of the district, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, Yougal Manhas.

He said Ahmad was wanted in a case registered at a local police station in 2009.

He is facing charges under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), including 341 (wrongful restraint), 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 355 (assault or use of criminal force), Manhas said.

Another absconder, Manzoor Hussain of Dalyote, was arrested from Kalakot the area of the district, he said. Hussain was evading arrest since 2016, the officer added.
