Top officials on Tuesday reviewed the overall security situation in Kulgam district of south Kashmir which has witnessed increased violence in the recent times.
A security review meeting was held at District Police Lines, Kulgam, an Army spokesman said.
The security review was carried out by Lt Gen A K Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander, S P Vaid, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, GOC Victor Force and IGP Kashmir.
The meeting was also attended by the commanding officers and SSPs, the spokesman said.
The primary aim of the meeting was to further strengthen the existing synergy among the Army, JKP, CRPF and other security agencies, he said.
During the deliberations on the overall security situation, the plans to maintain a robust counter-terrorist grid in the hinterland were discussed, the spokesman said.
The local commanders were also briefed about the current situation on the ground, challenges being faced and the measures to be instituted to enhance efficacy of counter terrorist operations, he said.
The Chinar Corps Commander and DGP also emphasised on maintaining a high level of preparedness to deal with the terrorist-initiated incidents, he added.
