In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old girl was reportedly gangraped and killed by two men in an Ola cab in Kolkata on Wednesday. The body was found near a canal, reports said.
The girl, who lived on the pavement with her family, was allegedly picked up from the streets in central Kolkata around 5 am on Wednesday. Her mother said she raised an alarm immediately.
The police said the attackers - one drives an Ola cab - parked the car on the Park Circus flyover in South Kolkata and raped the child in the car. They allegedly drove a little further to a bridge, strangled her and threw her off the bridge into a canal.
The duo has been identified as Shankar Shaw and Guddu Singh. The police also said Shaw and Singh confessed to the crime after they were arrested.
Sources say the two men had been drinking near the city's docks before they drove to Brabourne Road in central Kolkata and kidnapped the girl.
