Heavy rainfall will hit some districts of Gangetic West Bengal and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state till Saturday, the MeT department warned on Friday.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in the districts of West Burdwan, Bankura, Birbhum and Purulia till tomorrow," regional MeT director G K Das said.
Owing to a cyclonic circulation prevailing over Malda, North and South Dinajpur districts and an active monsoon trough passing through Bankura and Birbhum districts, "heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places" is very likely in the western areas of the state, Das said.

Other districts of Gangetic West Bengal, including Howrah, Hooghly, South and North 24 Parganas and East and West Midnapore are also likely to receive heavy rainfall till Sunday morning, Das said.
The heavy rains affected normal life the metropolis on Thursday. Several arterial roads in the city, such as Chitta Ranjan Avenue, the IT hub in Salt Lake, Rajarhat-New Town and Dum Dum were waterlogged, causing inconvenience to office-goers and students.

Low-lying areas in Dum Dum, the IT hub at Salt Lake's Sector V and Rajarhat-New Town were the worst affected this monsoon.
