Twenty kg of gold was seized and two persons were arrested in this north Bengal town by sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, sources in the agency said on Saturday.
Acting on specific information the DRI sleuths in a hideout at Sevoke Road here on Friday evening and seized the gold, which is valued at about Rs 5.4 crore in the market, the sources said.

The two men were arrested for smuggling the yellow metal, they said.
The two men had brought the gold from Jaigaon in Bhutan to Siliguri, which serves as the gateway to the Northeast, for smuggling it to other places, the sources added.

They were produced before a local court which remanded them to DRI custody for seven days.
