The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government has decided to change the uniform colour of state police personnel in the rank of constable to inspector from khaki to white, a senior official of the home department said on Friday.

The official said that the proposal to change the existing colour of uniform from khaki to white uniform was approved by the home department on Thursday.
“The proposal of changing the existing colour of uniform from khaki to white uniform for police personnel in the rank of constable to inspector in unarmed branch and traffic police in police commissionerate under West Bengal Police was under active consideration. The proposal has been approved by the state home department yesterday,” the official said.

A notification regarding the decision has been released stating that “no additional financial implication is required for implementing the proposal”.
