The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday announced that all tourist spots across the state will be closed till March 31 in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. In its slew of measures to curb the coronavirus transmission, the Yogi government also extended the closure of all schools, multiplexes and colleges till April 2 in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, the Yogi Adityanath government had declared coronavirus as epidemic.

Earlier, Union Culture Minister Prahlad Patel had announced that All ASI-protected monuments and central museums across the country will be shut till March 31 in view of the threat of coronavirus.

Currently, there are 3,691 centrally protected monuments and sites under the Archeological Survey of India.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath had made it clear that COVID-19 was not being termed as pandemic in state but some powers under the Epidemic Act have been given to departments to deal with proper management of patients.

According to Health Ministry, there are 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh with latest of them coming from Noida.

In India, 3 people so far have lost their lives and the number of confirmed coronavirus cases gone up to 126, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs.

On global front, the number of deaths worldwide due to coronavirus has crossed the 7000-mark with China, Italy, Iran, Spain, South Korea and France becoming the worst-affected nations. China has recorded the highest number of fatalities with number of casualties rising up to 3,213, followed by Italy with 2,158 deaths.
