Kasganj Clashes | Situation under control says UP DGP

Om Prakash Singh, Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police has issued a statement apprising of the current situation in Kasganj which was hit by communal clashes on Friday.

“Situation in Kasganj is under control. No incidents have taken place in the last few hours. A number of people were arrested, patrolling has been intensified, and priority is to maintain law and order,” said Singh.

On Friday, clashes broke out in Kasganj between two groups during a Tiranga Rally which resulted in the death of a 22-year old youth while another youth was seriously injured following which police arrested 49 people while senior police officers from Western UP were rushed to the troubled town.

Section 144 has been imposed in the entire precinct with adequate police personnel keeping a tight vigil on the situation.
