This is certainly shocking. NRI Rituraj Sahani working in United States returned back to India on Sunday, only to find his mother’s skeleton remains. The IT professional reached his mother’s flat in Mumbai and rang the bell. After not getting any response, he took the aid of duplicate key maker to open the door. To his horror, he found his mother’s skeleton remains in the bedroom.
The body had completely decomposed and police believe she must have died few weeks ago. Police officials have registered a case of accidental death. The body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem and the police is waiting for the report.
It is being reported that there are no injury marks on her body and she must have died because of natural reasons. Investigation reveal that there was no attempt of robbery and the flat’s door was locked from inside.
Rituraj’s mother Asha K Sahani was leaving alone in the flat which was located at the tenth floor in Wells Cot society in Lokhandwala. She was staying alone since the time her husband died in the year 2013. Rituraj shifted to the States in 1997. He had his last conversation with his mother about a year ago. She has asked him to put her in old-age home back then. However, she continued to stay in the flat.
The incident puts a big question mark on the safety and security of our senior citizens in our country.
