The number of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 147 in Maharshtra as twelve persons were confirmed to have contracted coronavirus in Sangli district on Friday. There are COVID-19 patients in the district to 24 now, PTI reported quoting a health official. According to the PTI report, all twelve these persons were related to or had come in contact with a single family. Some members of this family had returned from Saudi Arabia and later tested positive for the virus. These patients had already been put in hospital quarantine on suspicion of having caught the infection, said district civil surgeon C S Salunkhe.
Earlier, five more persons tested positive for coronavirus infection in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. On Thursday, eight persons had tested positive in the state, taking the count to 130, they said.

Meanwhile, as the news of a large scale exodus of migrant labourers emerged, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday every Indian citizen to stay put. The MHA also asked state governments to prevent a mass exodus of migrant agriculture labourers, industrial workers and unorganised sector employees from their workplaces to hometowns. State governments have been asked to take the migrants off the road and provide them with shelters with proper sanitation facilities, food and other essentials.
