Heavy to very heavy rains lashed Mumbai as monsoon arrived in the city, a day after its onset over Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted ‘really heavy rain’ in the city over the next few days and advised people to stay indoors.
The inclement weather situation disrupted flights and local train services in the city. At least two flights arriving at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai were dealyed. Trains on several routes were running 20-25 minutes late due to bad weather.
Rains accompanied with heavy winds uprooted trees and electricity poles in several parts of the city. Waterlogging was reported in low-lying several areas, including Mahim, Hindmata and Sion.
