Mumbai: 12-year-old found 27-week pregnant, family to knock Supreme Court for permission to abort
Another incident of horror has come under the spotlight after a Mumbai family has discovered recently their 12-year-old daughter is 27 weeks pregnant. The pregnancy was discovered only after she complained of stomach pain and her parents rush to the nearby hospital.
Though the family has already asked the Supreme Court for permission to abort, the Supreme Court judges failed to allow a termination because according to the medical report it was "neither good for the mother nor the foetus".
Talking about the same, Dr. Nikhil Datar, a gynecologist has said to Mid-day, "The family approached me on Wednesday night. After diagnosis, it was found that she was 27 weeks pregnant. In fact, even her mother didn't know about her pregnancy until a day ago."

"We are waiting to procure all the legal documents before approaching the Supreme Court. The final decision will be taken by the court," Dr. Datar was quoted further while interacting with the leading daily.
In India, it is illegal to abort after 20 weeks unless there is a threat to the mother's life.
