As soon the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi began on September 2, heavy rains also returned to Maharashtra and mainly in Mumbai. It’s been two days since several parts of Mumbai has been receiving heavy downpours. Several parts of the city on Wednesday witnessed water-logging after hours of rainfall. Meanwhile, the BMC has announced that the schools in the city will remain closed today.
It is worth mentioning here that water-logging occurred in the areas near Mumbai's King Circle railway station and Gandhi market. Harbour line trains are running late. Thane recorded 177.59 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Notably, on Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain at isolated places in Mumbai till September 6. Also, an ‘orange alert’ with forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for September 6, one of the days for Ganesh Visarjan. The IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded 131.4 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Tuesday. In the same time period, Colaba observatory recorded 80mm of rainfall.
Also, Mumbai police had warned the public of heavy rainfall, urging them to take precautions. In a tweet, Mumbai police said, “IMD authorities have indicated high rainfall weather for Mumbai and other adjoining districts for the next two days. Please take adequate precautions and ensure safety. Dial100 in case of an emergency. Take care Mumbai."

In the meantime, the weather forecasting agency has predicted that the maximum and minimum temperatures are most likely to remain around 29 degree Celcius and 24 degree Celcius respectively in Mumbai on Wednesday, reported News18.
