Eight people sustained severe injuries after three cars collided with each other on a flyover in Mumbai’s Andheri area. The accident has taken place due to low visibility in the wake of heavy downpours in the city. Several parts like Dadar and Hindmata are witnessing waterlogging and traffic snarls.  

Railways tracks at Sion railway station are reported to have been submerged due to heavy downpour. 

Earlier, the Indian Meteorological department had issued alerts of heavy rains in some parts of Mumbai and suburbs on Wednesday.  After heavy downpour in the beginning of monsoon, the last few days in the city have been comparatively dry.

Moreover, the weather forecast suggests that the rains increase gradually within next 24 hours. Next few days going to be very wet spell for Mumbai. Total rainfall from 24 July to 29 July likely to cross over 400mm in few places over Mumbai-Thane-Palghar. Heaviest of rains likely from 26 to 28 July.

Taking to Twitter, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued traffic diversion updates.

Earlier, the national capital also witnessed downpours on Sunday with Aya Nagar observatory recording 106 mm rainfall, leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion in many parts of the city. The minimum temperature settled at 26.8 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, whereas the maximum touched 36.5 degrees Celsius mark, two notches above normal for this time of the year.
