ISCM organises 4th leadership summit in Mumbai, discusses strategies to enhance supply chain efficiency

Institute of Supply Chain & Management (SCM), India’s leading institute of Logistics, recently organised the 4th edition of Asian Thought Leadership Summit and Awards at Hotel Orchid, Mumbai. The event had participants from leadership positions in SCM area and is the largest gathering of thought leaders. Key focus was on real issues faced by the supply chain leaders.

Dr. John Gattorna, a noted supply chain Guru and this year’s recipient of Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (USA) lifetime achievement award, was the keynote speaker – he spoke transforming supply chain to master the changing operating environment. Paul Bradley, a noted 3PL and supply chain expert, was the Valedictory speaker & in his parting note mentioned about rapid progress in India’s Infrastructure. This is the event which emphasizes the participation from all the stakeholders including 3PL, Ports, Airports along with leading supply chain practitioners.

Mr APR, Group Director- Sales & Marketing at Varuna group was part of the panel discussion on ‘Integrating with Global Logistics Networks – Indian Solutions to Global Challenges’. While sharing his views on the topic, he apprised the panel and the audience of how Group Varuna is addressing the cross-border transportation woes, especially with Bangladesh and Nepal. He also shared Varuna’s capabilities in terms of reduced transit time, technology implementation & GST impact being minimal on transport transit time. He said it is more to do with putting the house in order to cut flab such as go digital, cashless for operating expenditure, reduce waiting time at all steps.

The attendees were eminent names like – Dr.Rakesh Sinha, Neha Parekh from Godrej Consumer, Mr. Soma Sunder of Jyothy Laboratories ,Mr. Umakanth of John Deere tractors,  Mr. Royston from Cipla, Col. Nair of Reliance Digital Retail, Mr. Sanjeev Khanna-Patanjali Ayurveda, Mr. Ravi Tuma from Teva pharmaceuticals, Mr. Yogesh Sarin of Dell, Fiat Chrysler’s Kalpesh Pathak.

The series of awards seeks to honor companies & Individuals who are shaping the future of logistics & supply chain in India; this is India’s only Jury based Awards. Mr. Soman Nambiar, advisor with Varuna Integrated Logistics was awarded Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the logistics industry.
