Worker dies while cleaning sewage at Mumbai Port Trust

In a tragic incident, a worker lost his life on Tuesday while he was cleaning a sewer pipeline at Sassoon Docks in Mumbai Port Trust.

Name of the deceased person is Ahmed Ansari.

“Three workers were cleaning the sewer pipeline when gas emitted in the chamber. They fell unconscious and were rushed to St George Hospital. However, one of the workers lost his life,” said DCP Manoj Kumar Sharma.

An FIR has been registered against the contractor under Section 304 (A).

According to The Indian Express report, locals alleged that the death was due to negligence on part of the contractor during the cleaning activity.
