Earthquake in Assam: Strong Tremors Jolt Karbi Anglong District

With its epicentre at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, the quake jolted several areas of Karbi Anglong and other areas from the nearby districts. Around 6:40 pm, another quake of 4.7 intensity on the Richter scale struck Nagaland.

Earthquake in Assam: A medium-intensity earthquake shook parts of Assam’s Karbo Anglong on Wednesday evening. The quake measuring 4.6 jolted Karbo Anglong district at 6.40 pm. With its epicentre at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, the quake jolted several areas of Karbi Anglong and other areas from the nearby districts. Around 6:40 pm, another quake of 4.7 intensity on the Richter scale struck Nagaland.

The epicentre of the quake was 52 km from Dimapur and jolted several parts of Nagaland including Dimapur, Kohima and neighbouring areas in Assam. Till the filing of this report, there was no report of any damage to life and property due to the earthquakes.

On Tuesday, A medium-intensity earthquake shook parts of Uttarakhand, the State Emergency Operation Centre here said. The quake measuring 4.5 jolted Pithoragarh, Almora, Champawat and Bageshwar districts at 7.30 am. It was epicentred near Raura-Nachni in Pithoragarh district and was at a depth of 10 km, the SEOC said.

The tremors were felt in Munsyari, Pangal, Thal, Nachni, Askot and Dharchula in Pithorogarh district and also parts of Almora, Champawat, and Bageshwar district. However, there was no report of any damage to life and property, the SEOC said quoting Pithoragarh District Magistate V K Jogdande.
