CM Biren Singh monitoring Manipur’s worst landslide tragedy in Tamenglong

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday monitored the worst landslide tragedy in that occurred in Tamenglong town.

The chief minister had reportedly sent a ministerial team from the state capital Imphal to monitor the situation and help the victims.

The team, while on its visit, consoled the bereaved families assuring financial assistance and rehabilitation.

“A ministerial team led by shri K.Shyam (CAF&PD)and Shri Th. Radheshyam min (Edn) along with R/DM team left imphal at 11 AM for Tamenglong (145 km) to help the victims,” the chief minister tweeted.

Conveying his condolence to the bereaved families to those killed in the massive landslides, Singh took to Twitter and said that he was deeply saddened by the news.

I am deeply saddened to know that Nine precious life lost due to land slide at 3 places in Tamenglong Head Quarter, till now 7 bodies have been recovered 2 bodies of children yet to recovered. Expressing his grief over the tragic incident, the chief minister had announced ex gratia of one lakh each to the families of the 9 victims, besides immediate relief materials. 

At least nine people, including five children, were killed and several injured as heavy monsoon rain triggered massive landslides at three places in Manipur’s Tamenglong town on Wednesday.
