Magnitude 4.0 earthquake rattles Indo-Myanmar border region in Manipur

A light earthquake measuring 4.0-magnitude on the Richter Scale rattled the India-Myanmar border region in Manipur on Thursday morning. The earthquake struck the northeastern state of Manipur around 9 am in the morning.

No causalities or damage to properties due to the earthquake has been reported yet.

This was the second earthquake in the northeastern region of India in less than a fortnight. Earlier on June 11, a medium intensity earthquake, measuring 5.1 on Richter Scale had rocked Assam.

The epicentre of the medium intensity earthquake, was at a place 22 kilometres from Dhing in Nagaon district, according to the report of the Regional Seismological Centre at Shillong.
