Five cadres belonging to different Manipur-based militant outfits have been arrested in separate search operations by security forces in the state, a police official said.
A combined team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles held one woman cadre of the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) from Leitanpokpi area in Imphal East district, police said in a statement on Tuesday.
In another search operation, security forces arrested a hardcore militant belonging to the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and a member of proscribed militant outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Imphal East district.

The security forces also arrested another two cadres of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) from Bishnupur district, the police said.
On August 30, Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Commander and acting chairman of banned KCP outfit Oinam Ibochouba Singh alias Khoirangba here, following death threats to Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and other ministers on August 11 over the Manipur University impasse.

For decades, Manipur has been reeling under insurgency problems.
In a move to contain the militancy in the state and to join the mainstream, Biren Singh had launched a new rehabilitation policy for surrendered militants in the state on April 1.
