Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the government is creating strong connections with southeastern countries, which will help develop the Northeastern region of the country.
“Our Govt wants to ensure delivery of socio-economic prosperity in the Northeastern region, we are creating strong connections with south-east countries that will help in the upliftment of this region,” ANI quoted Singh as saying.
The union home minister was speaking at the 67th Plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, Meghalaya.
This was the first time a union home minister presided over the plenary meet of the council.
Union minister for development of Northeastern region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh, the along with chief ministers and governors of the Northeastern states, also attended the plenary to discuss development projects with the home minister.
