A 24-year-old woman, who returned to Raipur from London on Sunday has tested positive for novel coronavirus. This is the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Chhattisgarh. According to officials, the woman and her parents, who reside in the state capital, have been admitted to an isolation ward at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur. According to reports, the woman had returned home from London via Mumbai airport on March 15. After she complained of cold and cough, her sample was collected for testing on March 17.
"Her sample tested positive for the infection late Wednesday evening," Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Raipur Dr Karan Peepre told PTI.
The woman and her parents were immediately admitted to AIIMS after she was found positive. They are being kept under observation in the isolation ward. According to the officials, the condition of the woman is stable.
