New Delhi:
A 21-year-old, who had allegedly raped his nine-year-old niece, was beaten to death by villagers in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, the police said on Saturday.
Taluka Purty, the victim’s paternal uncle, raped her in one room of the house on Friday night at Karlajori village under Muffassil police station area. The girl’s grandmother was in another room when the incident happened, the police said.

The villagers heard the screams of the victim and reached the spot. They caught hold of the accused and beat him up. Purty was later taken to a hospital in Chaibasa where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon, the police said. The girl was sent for medical examination.
