At least one person was killed and 44 others were injured after a private bus fell into a gorge at Shalang in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district on Thursday. Soon after the incident, 108 ambulances were rushed to the spot to shift the injured to nearby hospitals. The toll in the accident may rise as one of the passengers has suffered grievous injuries and was later referred to PGI Chandigarh hospital.
"Himachal Pradesh: One dead and 44 people injured after a private bus met with an accident at Shalang in Kullu district, earlier today. Injured are admitted to a hospital," the news agency ANI reported.

The bus carrying 53 passengers was on its way to Kullu from Kyelang and suddenly rolled down a gorge near the Kullu-Lag area. However, the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. The administrative staff is currently on the spot and taking stock of the relief and rescue operations.
