New Delhi:

The 17-year-old boy from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, who was suspended for hugging e female student, has scored 91.2 per cent marks in CBSE Class 12 exams.

The boy passed all the subjects with flying colours and got 99 in Economics, 92 in Psychology, 90 in Business Studies, 88 in Accountancy and 87 marks in English.

The teenager was suspended by his school, St Thomas Central School, for giving “a long hug in the school and uploading intimate pictures on his private Instagram account”.

However, the school management took a lenient view after Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s intervention and allowed to appear for the exams.

The boy had also approached Child Rights Commission against the school’s “disciplinary” action which asked the school to remove the suspension and take back the student.

The school moved the Kerala high court against the commission’s order. The high court had refused to intervene and ruled that the school had the powers to take action on disciplinary issues.

Earlier on Saturday, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had declared the results of Class 12th board examination in which nearly 12 lakh students had appeared.

A total 83.01 per cent students passed the exam which was topped by Uttar Pradesh’s Meghana Srivastava. Meghana, an Arts student from Noida got 499 out of 500 marks.
