The heinous murder of a two-and-a-half-year-old baby girl in Uttar Pradesh’ Aligarh has sent shockwaves across the country. As the outrage grows against the barbaric act, there are various reports that have added new dimension to the unspeakable crime. However, now the Aligarh Police has outrightly denied that the toddler was raped our acid was poured on her body. The post-mortem report shows that the arm and leg of the baby were broken. Detailing the brutalities, the autopsy records ‘liquefied brain’, ‘both eyes tissues loosened’ and ribs seen separately. The baby was murdered and her body mutilated by the accused and her aide over an unpaid loan of Rs 10,000.
The murder is now being probed under the National Security Act. "We are proceeding with it as an NSA case, we will try to get it to a fast track court. There is no mention of rape or acid in postmortem report. Two accused have been arrested, five police officials have been suspended," Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Akash Kulhary said.
The mutilated body of the infant was found in a garbage dump three days ago. Senior Superintendent of Police Kulhary said the girl went missing from Tappal township on May 31 and on June 2, police found her mutilated body in a garbage dump near her house. The Uttar Pradesh government has formed an SIT to probe the case.
"Post-mortem examination has not found any sign of sexual assault. The report confirmed death due to strangulation," the police officer said. The victim's father has demanded that other family members of the accused be arrested as the crime could not have been carried out without their knowledge. He threatened that he would start a fast unto death if no further arrests were made. Security measures at Tappal township, 50 kilometers from the district headquarters, have been tightened as a precautionary step after tension.
