Jilted over rejection, a man murdered his landlady in Bengaluru’s Hegganahalli area in early morning hours on Tuesday and later committed suicide. The matter came to light after the neighbours alerted the police. The accused has been identified as one Rangadhamaiah. The 35-year-old was an employee at a local garment factory. The police said that the accused not only bludgeoned his landlady, he also tried to kill her husband and daughter. Assuming that they were dead, Rangadhamaiah went to his first-floor room and ended his life. The husband and daughter of the 36-year-old victim were grievously injured and are at present, being treated at a local hospital.

Rangadhamaiah and his wife were tenants at Laxmi's house in north Bengaluru. After his wife's death, Rangadhamaiah and Laxmi allegedly started having an affair. Laxmi's husband, who was paralysed from waist and below, and her daughter objected to the relationship and warned her against meeting Rangadhamaiah again. Angered by her sudden change in behaviour, Rangadhamaiah went to Laxmi's house at midnight on Tuesday. He first murdered Laxmi and then attempted to kill her husband and daughter using the same weapon. Assuming they were all dead, he went upstairs and stabbed himself. Still breathing, he hung himself in his room.

India’s tech capital has reported some of the most baffling crime case in recent past. Earlier, a Bengaluru techie was arrested for allegedly killing her mother and stabbing her brother. The mother (54) died, while the brother (31) suffered grievous injuries. It was the brother, who had informed the police and his relatives about his sister’s heinous crime. The accused was identified as one Amrutha C, a resident of KR Puram locality in Karnataka’s capital city Bengaluru. The techie, who according to some reports was out of job, had allegedly murdered her mother with a metal bar in the early morning hours on February 2. After two-day hunt, the 33-year-old accused was arrested from a hotel in Andamans island where she was holidaying with her boyfriend.

Even the local police are finding it hard to believe. The woman reportedly murdered her mother as she was worried over the Rs 15 lakh debt on the family. She felt that the lenders would trouble the family and it was ‘better to die’. According to the police probe so far, on Saturday night, Amrutha told her brother and mother that she had got a job in Hyderabad. She wanted the family to visit the city once before they relocate.
