Gaurav Singh, who was shot at by unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers in front of his hostel on the campus on Tuesday evening has succumbed to his injuries. He was a Banaras Hindu University (BHU) student. The Police have arrested four people in connection with the case. "We have arrested four people. It was a case of personal enmity," news Agency ANI quoted Anil Kumar Singh, Circle Officer, Varanasi Cantonment as saying.

The incident occurred in the evening, when Gaurav Singh, pursuing his masters in the university and residing in its Lal Bahadur Shastri Hostel on the campus was standing outside his hostel, talking to his friends. Gaurav had sustained bullet injuries in his stomach and was rushed to the trauma centre of the BHU's Institute of Medical Sciences.
