Prominent BJP leader and former Union minister Swami Chinmayanand, accused of raping a low student from one of his colleges, has been admitted to a state-run hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur after he complained of uneasiness, hospital authorities said on Wednesday.
"After his condition became bad, he was shifted to the medical college hospital and admitted in ward number 8," Chief Medical Superintendent Dr MP Gangwar said, adidng that a team of doctors was being set up to keep the rape accused BJP leader under obesrvation.
The hospitalisation of Chinmayanand has come after the girl, he allegedly raped, accused the police and the SIT team formed to probe the case of trying to protect the BJP strongman. The girl said that she has recorded her statement to the SIT team yet no case has been registered against Chinmayanand.
"Maybe the government wants us to end our lives and only then they will take action against Chinmayanand. Will the authorities believe me when I attempt suicide?" she asked.
On Monday, shortly after the victim got her statement recorded before a magistrate, Chinmayanand complained of lose motions and examined by doctors at his residence. Earlier, the victim had handed over a pen drive containing several videos to the SIT team as evidence against the BJP leader. She alleged that the former Union minister had raped and physically exploited her for more than a year.
