In a bizarre incident in Delhi’s Shakarpur area, a bride was shot at moments before her wedding by an unknown person on Thursday night. Just before the marriage rituals were to begin and the couple climbed onto the stage, someone from the crowd of guests shot at the bride. The bullet brushed past her leg and she was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, the police said. The police were called in to investigate the matter and identify the culprit.

The wedding rituals were resumed after the bride received treatment and the doctors declared her to be out of danger. The bridegroom later said as reported by news agency ANI, "Don't know who the person was. Bullet brushed past her legs. The police were later called here."

In a similar incident, a groom was shot in the shoulder at his wedding procession in the Madangir area of Delhi in November 2018. Just 500 m from the wedding venue, two men hopped on the carriage in which the groom, Badal was sitting and shot him in the shoulder before fleeing the spot. Amid the loud music of procession, no one realised that Badal was shot. He himself climbed down to inform others of the incident. Badal was then admitted to a nearby hospital where he underwent a three-hour long treatment. He then left for the wedding ceremony late that same night. He said that he would undergo a surgery after the wedding.
