Brother’s brutality ahead of Rakhi, gouges out sister's eyes for buying dress worth Rs 100

The 20-year-old girl was rescued by a team of Delhi Women’s Commission during a random door to door program.

While most brothers present gifts to their sisters on Rakshabandhan, a festival where a sister ties a threat on her brother’s wrist and seeks a promise of protection in return, a Delhi boy turned devil and brutally gouged out his sister’s eyes because she had bought a dress worth Rs 100.

Delhi Women’s Commission (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal took to Twitter to share the details of this bone-chilling incident. Not just that, after gouging her eyes, the 17-year-old brother beat his elder sister black and blue and locked in a room.

The 20-year-old girl was rescued by a team of Delhi Women’s Commission during a random door-to-door program. Maliwal said that the girl has been admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital hospital where her condition is serious.

"On getting a suit of Rs 100, the girl's 2 eyes burst into anger by her 17-year-old brother! The DCW Mahila Panchayat received the girl in a door-to-door visit, bled into the house. I went to meet her in the hospital! It is very serious," she said.

While the DCW chairman has summoned police to take necessary action against the accused brother, doctors said that they were waiting for her swellings to subside to further assess the damage. The family of the victim hails from Bihar and and lives in Delhi's Dwarka area.
